Founded in 1858, Susquehanna Univeristy is located in Selinsgrove, the heart of Pennsylvania, 50 miles north of Harrisburg, 90 minutes from Pocono ski areas, and about a three-hour drive from Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City. This is the heart of Sabbat country, dangerous territory for Camerilla Kindred. Approximately 1,650 men and women attend Susquehanna, from 25 states and 10 countries. A small percentage of these are Kindred, for the Canites draw most of their ranks from the professors and residents of Selinsgrove. Given the status of the Univeristy, it is unsurprising that there are quite a few foreign Kindred here, including several Germans, Italians and an Israeli. Given the prominence of the business school and the music department at Susquehanna, it is no small wonder that Selinsgrove has been controlled by Ventrue and Toreador since the college was founded. There are rumours of Ventrue ghouls as deans and Ventrue themselves on the Board of Trustees, but as with most things relating to Canites, this is mere speculation. The Ventrue cover their tracks better than most; the Toreador are not as visable, preferring to work through gifted proteg�s and some find themselves lost in their chosen mortals. It is this facination that keeps the Clan of the Rose from achieving real power at Susquehanna. The Brujah makes its presence felt in subtle ways as well; mostly Idealists, as one would expect on a college campus, the Rabble are marred by infighting and rifts of philosophy. They fight each other more than anything else, and perhaps this is the way the Jyhad is meant to be played out... The Nosferatu and Tremere, true to form, lay low; there are rumours of their presence, but none can say for certain. Though with such a talented and diverse student body, relatively speaking, of course, surely the Warlocks and Sewer Rats could find some willing recruits.
Traditionally, the Princes have been Ventrue, childer of Primogen and elders around the country eager to have their childer gain wisdom and leadership experience. Despite the fragile security the Univeristy enjoys, the constant threat of Sabbat invasion, of the Jyhad spilling into the streets and the breaking of the Masquerade, most Princes are young and foolish. They do not last long. A precious few have kept the area from falling into Sabbat hands, making Susquehanna seem an uninviting, worthless place. But the truth of the matter could not be farther from the truth. With the relative seclusion, constant influx of people, the factors that make up "college life" and the forgetful passions of the young, Susquehanna is the perfect place to be Kindred as the Final Nights draw closer.
